X2: X-Men United

Professor Charles Xavier and his team of genetically gifted superheroes face a rising tide of anti-mutant sentiment led by Col. William Stryker. Storm, Wolverine and Jean Grey must join Magneto and Mystique to unhinge Stryker's scheme to exterminate all mutants.

• The opening — Nightcrawler's attack in the White House — is still considered one of the genre's best action scenes.

• Stryker's computer lists names like Garokk and Danielle Moonstar — a mutant phone book for fans.
• Dr. Hank McCoy appears as a TV talking head — years before Beast's blue debut.
