Deadpool

The origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who, after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

• The leaked 2014 test footage (allegedly planted by insiders) forced Fox into a greenlight after 11 years of development hell.

• Deadpool's voice-over dismantles its own studio history: a film by the people who ruined the character once before.
• The sewn-mouth Origins action figure appears as a prop — vigilante justice on its own canon.

• Vancouver, radically cheap: the entire highway sequence was made on a decommissioned viaduct section.

Score: Tom Holkenborg

• DMX – X Gon' Give It to Ya (Deadpool's unofficial anthem ever since)
• Wham! – Careless Whisper
